Security Fundraiser
Safety has always been important to us at Shine—for the people we serve, our staff, and founders. Though we have had a multi-layered security plan, it has become a necessity to add to it immediately. In July, Shine was viciously and violently attacked by a large gang of thieves. A night guard was injured, the founders’ two oldest children were injured, and the two founders along with another night guard were severely injured. Miraculously, everyone is recovering physically and God is graciously beginning the emotional healing journey. The Lord absolutely protected our lives that night, including the other staff living onsite, as well as the teen boys that Shine cares for. Those boys bravely battled with us for themselves and everyone at Shine.
Now, we need to put even more security measures in place to wisely protect Shine and our people in the best way we can.
It would not be wise to share our full security plan and measures publicly, but we have carefully evaluated our premises with professionals and have additional measures to take. Although we fully know that no one is 100% safe anywhere in this world, we feel a responsibility to do the best we can to protect the ministry and people God has blessed us with.
