Playground & Sports Complex

The vision

When God planted the vision of Shine into the founders’ hearts, it was a desire to be a place of gathering and refuge for the community. Naminya is a village in Uganda along the Nile River. Shine desires to come alongside its neighbors in love and see their families thrive.

The current

The fresh water well has been placed. Sinks and toilets for sanitation are done. A gigantic hut for gathering and shelter is being used every day of the week. The empowerment program is in place, kids are being sent back to school, and teens without families now have a place to call home. 550+ children gather every Saturday for worship, the Word and to eat. Now it’s time for them to stay and PLAY.

The future

The Shine property can be seen to the left in this picture. It’s time for the playground of the original vision to become reality. Prayerfully, the property right behind the current Shine property will be expanded into a beautiful, fun place for the children to gather and play. We are collaborating with a non-profit ministry who will come in and meet with the children to best design and build a playground just for them. Children deserve to play and it is a crucial part of their development. What a joy it will be to show you pictures of these precious children in a wonderful, fun space that you all have helped make happen!
